I always wanted to do this: paint one of my walls in a strong colour. It had to be red and I decided to take a colour they call “Ziegelrot”. It is very srong and dominant and I took me a LONG time to paint it. I still find some sites to improve. What do you think? Mean comments are welcome but they have to be funny!

When people ask me: “so, what are you doing in Barcelona, just having a good time?”, I basically cannot deny it. Because, yes, I am still working for Face2net and SPD and yes, I try to get jobs like some webprojects and being part of the Bread & Butter Barcelona, and yes, I started to work on my master thesis but.. it’s not a lot to show around, actually.
But here is something: I met a designer who studied in Utrecht and Cologne, he is really good, has a lot of skills, spontaneously we made ourselves business cards to step up into the professional circle of Barcelona’s freelancers and spontaneously I made him a webpage: www.christiandegen.de is a simple, fast and easy onlineportfolio, I hope it will be of use for him.
Die Freunde von Twen FM waren ja schon ganz verrückt nach diesem Kanadier, der ja nicht nur irre geile Clubmusik macht, sondern auch noch eine rattenscharfe Show mit Fleischermesser, Mikro und Telefonhöhrer. Und ich muss sagen, der 
Livemitschnitt samt Interview hat mich auch überzeugt, klasse funky Mucke, ein netter, auskunftsfreudiger Typ mit Pianovergangenheit – der Song “10 years of dictatorship” (oder so, ich schreibe jetzt mal ins unreine, sitze nämlich im Freien und mit frieren langsam die Finger) ist angeblich von zehn Jahren Klavierunterricht inspiriert.
Der absolute Clubhit ist aber “Kisses” und die ganze EP gibt es völlig frei bei Epsilonlab im Netz und sollte nicht missachtet werden.
I have a new blog in my Blogroll: We make money not art/. A European girl (Belgian, lived in Italy, Spain, wants to come to Berlin – good choice!..) writes about art, advertising, media and so on.
I liked especially her finding of the project “Folk Songs for the Five Points” which “uses “folk songs” as a metaphor to explore immigration and the formation of identity in New York’s Lower East Side.”
Good selections, good writing, always some interesting ideas. Mr Moving Canvas was featured there, too!

This mix is perfect before going out, when you are heading to the metro or a friend’s party around 11 pm. Smoothly pushing, straight forward in a very funky, slowly and housy way.

Short Shots is a festival for short movies, held every first thursday of a month in Berlin’s fashionable Sage Club. With a bunch of ambitious young people behind, the festival is gaining reputation. They have a nice website with a real good trailer online, featuring some important film genres and impressions from the club and the people.
They have directors speaking to the audience in a very familiar atmosphere and people are encouraged to send in their short films (no longer than 15 min.)
Barcelona I am coming! It is only a week until I´ll be there and I will spend the whole winter and get away from the rainy Berlin depression. Right now, I am looking for a shared flat, a room I could be in and I am thankful for any hints and help. I started looking in internet sites (but I am afraid that it is going to be difficult to fix something until I am there to meet the people personally. I will arrive october 13th be ready for shared flat interviews.

Cc:Room ist ein neues Blog, das ich mit und für die Agentur Circleculture entwickelt habe. Circleculture beschreibt sich als “Kreativagentur für Marken- und Kommunikationsberatung“, sie sitzen in der Gipsstraße und geben Kunden wie Nike, Schweppes, Closed und Beiersdorf den gewissen Touch Style und Underground.
Sie machen viel mit Kunst, Kultur und Design und immer wieder gibt es schöne Ausstellungen im Cc:Room, ihrer Galerie. So haben sie auch ihr Blog genannt, das in Zukunft als Präsentationsplattform für Projekte und Ausstellungen dienen soll und die Webseite Circleculture.com komplettiert. Lange hat es gedauert, aber nun genügt es den hohen Ansprüchen der Geschäftsführer.
Inzwischen sind sie eine feste Größe im Berliner Lifestyle, in die Clubs kommen sie umsonst, weil sie einfach jeden kennen. Wer in Berlin-Mitte Fuß fassen will und schnell Zugang zur kreativen Szene sucht, kommt an ihnen nicht vorbei, Schlagworte wie “Below-the-line-Maßnahmen” und “Spitze Zielgruppen” füllen sie mit Leben.
Ich habe ihnen ein kleines WordPress-Blog angepasst, war stressig (die Jungs wollen eben viel und das schnell und günstig) aber hat Spaß gemacht, jetzt müssen sie nur noch anfangen zu bloggen. Viel Spaß und Erfolg, Johann, Staudi, Nici, Julia und alle anderen!
Before I went to Barcelona in 2002 I had a really good DJ job in Berlin. Once a month I played at the R’nB party “Bootylicious” in the gay club Schwuz. It was perfect because I love R’nB’ but I never really liked the scene in Berlin that can usually be found in R’nB and Hiphop clubs. Continue reading
