To the surface is a new blog about documentaries. It is aimed to find and present “crucial documentary films online”. Pierce and Ben are the guys behind this project and also did the Notic Nastic video.

So they features documentaries like the BBC’s “Parallel Universe” or the History’s channel “Secret Societies” (like Skull and Bones which George Bush claims to be a member of and which also played an important role for the emergence of the CIA, as explained in the movie “The Good Sheperd“)

Da kann man sich ordentlich mit guter Energie volltanken, die es dann in Heiligendamm beim Move Festival wieder zu verteilen gibt.

In Berlin steht der Karneval der Kulturen an, am Sonntag zieht der bunte Umzug wieder durch Kreuzberg und wieder mal - soll es regnen. Aber das hat dem Karneval noch nie geschadet.

I really start becoming an Arcade Fire fan. The music’s influenece just gets stronger and stronger, everyday. Now I found this amazing video with an Arcade Fire session in an elevator. Amazing. Especially since I always loved the drum sounds of elevators and always used to play around with it since I was a kid.

This session is part of the Take Away Shows by La Blogohèque and was taken in Paris before their show at the Olympia. First we see everybody quite concentrated in the warddrobe, then they play “Neon Bible” in the old freight elevator and then “Wake Up” in the middle of the audience before starting their show.

Aus der Bloggerszene wird gerne Häme auf Politiker ausgegossen: Mit neuen Medien kennen sie sich nicht aus oder sind gar Technikverweigerer (Generation 0.0). Oder das politische System an sich (hier sind vor allem Parteien in der Kritik): Nicht fähig, die Demokratie zu einer Version 2.0 umzukrempeln. Aber wenn dann mal was passiert merkt es keiner.

Seit ein paar Wochen kann man den Entwurf des zu verabschiedenden Grundsatzprogramms der SPD auf programmwerkstatt.spd.de bewerten und eigene Thesen veröffentlichen und in den Diskurs einbringen. So entsteht ein Meinungsbild verteilt über Themen und Aussagen, die entweder besonders kontrovers sind (d.h. sowohl Zustimmung wie Ablehnung ernten) oder mehrheitlich angenommen oder abgelehnt werden. Dieses Meinungsbild sowie die neuen Thesen werden in den endgültigen Entwurf einfließen, der im Oktober auf dem Bundesparteitag verabschiedet werden soll.

Remember Notic Nastic? The two robots, lost in an impossible mission to spread forgotten knowledge among mankind by turning dancefloors upside down?

The friendly guys have now returned from on a journey to their spaceship to bring us some bits and bounces out of the now unusable cock pit. Für Kurzentschlossene: Heute abend findet das Espantapitas Festival im Sage Club statt. Auf sieben Bühnen gibt es Musik unterschiedlichster Couleur, aber mit der kosmopolitsch mediterranen Prägung Barcelonas mit Livebands und DJs von Latin, Dub, Breakbeat, Jazz und Elektronik. (u.a. mit Bar Xino! Schade, dass Catalounge nicht dabei sind, die würden hervorragend passen.)

Only from one position in the room, several red lines add to a complete structure which appears even more irritating if people seem to be extra-layers in between the structure. I actually ran into this exhibition today by accident and had to enter twice to find the right corner.

Kurz und schmerzlos: Diesen wunderbar entspannenden Nachmittagsmix von Onur Engin, der unter anderem die Montape Radio Show (viele, viele Mixe zum laden) mitgestaltet. Jazzy Stuff, sehr soulful, sehr groovy, sehr urban, man möchte Cocktails dazu trinken und vielleicht einen Hut tragen. Macht dein Zimmer zum Salon. FLowinIMMO ist sicher einer der kreativsten deutschen Wort- und Musikkünstler, der (bisher) eigentlich chronisch unterschätzt und unterbeachtet geblieben ist. Das mag zum einen an der Schwierigkeit liegen, ihn in Klischees einzuordnen, das ging weder während der boomenden Deutsch-Rap Zeiten noch heute, zu vielfältig und kreativ-chaotisch ist sein Werk. Zum anderen sicher an seinem großen Hang zu absoluter Unabhängigkeit, derentwegen er sich mit u.a. mit dem ihm ehemals vertretenden Majorlabel (Universal) anlegte. Inzwischen ergibt sich aber aus diesen beiden Konstanten in seinem Leben (Kreatives Chaos und Unabhängigkeit) ein vielschichtiges und facettenreiches Bild seines Schaffens, das von verschiedensten Alben (alle in Eigenregie, von Musik, Text, Mischung, Grafik bis Vertrieb) bis zu Neuinterpretationen von Mozarts Oper “Cosi Fan Tutte” reicht.

Many would agree to the statememt that Germany is a country of self-moaning and self-critizism. Especially from the outside this often seems exaggerated and unfounded. But the real problem is not the underestimation of our own strength but it is: dangerous self reference. This counts especially for the inability to face questions of immigration which are key to solving problems like demographic change, innovation and globalization. These questions are simply not adressed by any party, politican or lobby group.

Hannes Metz is one of the people behind Caffeine, a new and hot party series in different locations in Berlin. Had I been able to walk last friday (too much football..) I would have attended their fest at Ballhaus Ost with Matthias Tanzmann for sure.

Now I revcovered and can dance around in my apartment not only because I am so happy to finally post the 50th DJ set (!) but rather because this is such a nice and funky, deep tech house mix, with reduced melodies and surprising effects that make a worthy jubilee mix

Das derzeit populärste Design: Composition No.1Ich habe mal im Freundeskreis rumgefragt, wer denn so seinen iPod bekleben würde und die Reaktionen waren interessant: Die Hälfte waren Puristen, die würden nichts Klebendes in die Nähe kommen lassen, sondern schlagen das Kleinood pur in golddurchwirkte Tücher ein (oder so), die anderen waren der Idee nicht abgeneigt. Und das ist wohl genau die Zielgruppe von DeinDesign.

Hier kann man sich Folien bestellen, die sich auf iPods, Laptops und Handies kleben lassen. Auch Plattenspieler sind im Gespräch, aber dazu schweigt der Shop noch. Außerdem kann man seine eigenen Designs hochladen und von DeinDesign als Folie produzieren lassen.

Die Musik seiner Band Empty Trash ist aber nicht so besonders, wenn man ehrlich ist, sogar richtig üble Rocksoße. Einen Produzenten brauchen sie allein schon damit der ihnen mal das Timing grade zieht.
