Welcome back to the cool sides of Manhattan! Take this literally: It is so cold in New York that long walks and picnics in the sun are an illusion. You want to stay insinde as much as possible. So I did and experienced a lot of culture. Read about MoMa, galleries in SoHo and and a film festival in the Lower East Side and see all the pictures in Stylewalker@Flickr.

O Brother where art thou teeth?
One can read the big differences in American society from the peoples’ faces. Or better: Their mouthes. So many people walk around without proper teeth, it shocks me sometimes. Yesterday, this teethless Chinese in Grand Station metro at night, for example.
First, I felt pity for him, then he started yelling at me: “Don´t ask me to solve your problem! I cannot solve your problem!!Go outside, to the bank, get the money! Come back, get the money! It’s your problem!!” Continue reading
Tea Time in Brooklyn
One of the greatest places in whole New York to hang out, have tea and enjoy free W-Fi is the Tea Lounge in 837 Union Street in Brooklyn. You enter and feel comfortable immediately. It is generously spacious, has lots of sofas and cushions, hand written menus on chalkboards and many little lamps. People sit and work creatively with their laptops and get to know each other due to the open architecture, and talk life, politics and projects. Continue reading
Eat cheap and good in Chinatown
New York is an expensive city. Really?!
Yesterday I found a great place to eat lunch: Jobee on 3 Howard Street, Chinatown. An all you can eat but not at all shabby buffet for 4$! We enjoyed the good food and the chinese hospitality. A real Stylewalker recommendation! The only I did not like was the sea weed, but that’s ok, I can live without it. We had even free tee on our tables and two big bowls of steaming rice.. Brooklyn, baby!
I am staying in Brooklyn, of course. You better speak Spanish or Chinese here, otherwise communication is difficult. I like the chinese egg custards and talking Spanish naturally is no problem for me. We have a train running 5m away from our window, running every 30 minutes. The houses are small, cousy. I would live here, would I live in NYC. Continue reading
New York, Zoo York
Tomorrow it is off to the big apple! Half past seven to Lisboa, arrival in New York half past three. Be prepared to enjoy recent impressions from the Village, Nolita, Dumbo, Williamsburg – all the fancy places people keep recommending whenever I tell them I’ll be there for two weeks. They told me even more, but I like to explore myself, strolling around and feel the cities vibe.
(I know, in the picture there are still the twin towers, anyway, I like the foto..)
Guns for sale in GB?
Did you know, in england, they sell guns on TV? Here’s a the Teleshop that put the spot even online!
It seems funny, in the end it is rather sad. More guns than ever sold today. This viral campaign by Amnesty International UK wants to raise attention for an international arms trade treaty which should be initiated by the UN and signed by as many countries as possible.
More info about the viral campaign.

Take a nap in Barcelona
Yesterday, 1am, Ramblas. A cold tuesday, not many people out, almost more beer sellers and party promoters than actual partygoers. So, this image is perfect for this evening, a guy, taking a nap on his bike, in an almost, impossible physical position. I hope, he did not fall down later.. Continue reading
The Beastles
This might be not in the web for long: The Beastles are mash-up remixes between the Beatles and the Beastie Boys. The producer is DJ BC, a DJ from Boston. He certainly got inspired by the “grey album”: a project of the now famous DJ Dangermouse who took the Beatles’s “White Album” and remixed it mash-up style with Jay-Z’s black album. The “Grey album” became the most downloaded piece of music ever and Dangermouse was eventually hired as a producer for the second Gorillaz album. The Beastles is not as good as the grey album, but has its charme. Actually, I like his crazy mix of Dee-Lite, The Doors, Salt’n’Pepa and Donna Summer more: Groovy Burnin’ Heart.
Skating Ciutadella
Recently, Shir Khan told me that Barcelona definetely was a city that makes him want to skate again (I did not know that he ever was – but, you know, everybody has a past and we are not getting any younger..). In this case, he is definetely going to like this video, shot one weekend ago. The light is amazing and do you hear the birds?! Continue reading
