Houseparty!

Berlin is a hard city. The most famous clubs are Tresor, WMF and Berghain, all famous for their dark, excessive atmosphere. The industrial environment, the wars and totalitarian regimes in the past did their best to make Berlin a real hard party place. Techno and techhouse is the sound and a lot of people are bored of the monotone music they are exposed to every weekend.

What this people need is a good HOUSE PARTY! So we decided: They should have it! 24th of september, Tasdorferstr 31, Berlin Friedrichshain

Meinungsmacher – Another blog of mine

Book CoverBook CoverWww.meinungsmacherblog.de is the blog I set up for the book I contributed to: “Die neuen Meinungsmacher – Weblogs als Herausforderung für Kampagne, Marketing, PR und Medien” by Dr. Ansgar Zerfaß und Dietrich Boelter, published by Nausner&Nausner. Comes out September 2005, 192 pages, ISBN 3-901402-45-4, 12 € (that’s cheap for so much science!).

Social Software, Corporate Weblogs, Corporate Communications, Agenda Setting, Opinion leaders, podcasts, media-for-the-masses, bloggings vs journalism and so on are the buzzwords.

All the science basically is by Dr. Zerfaß, case studies and the business part by Mr Boelter and my part was mainly to surf the web and find interesting stories and to write them down neatly. A lot of work but at last a lot of fun, too. You should read (if you read German) it is really interesting.

Party beneath Alexanderplatz

The Alexanderplatz is one of the largest places in Berlin, former center of the East and home of the famous Fernsehturm. Beneath is a huge area with metro station, shops and some forgotten tunnels that are practically unused now.

Somebody told us some guys would have a party there, that is was not official and ergo very illegal. The police in Berlin is pretty liberal so you can take the risk, still, we where like 100% sure that this party would be busted by the police by one o’clock, latest.

Around three o’clock there were like 150 people dancing like crazy in this superunderground place you could reach and leave only by escalators. A massive soundsystem, a bar, pumping tech-house – a perfect night.

Poetry Slam at Watergate Club

One of the most beautiful clubs in Berlin is the Watergate right next to Oberbaumbrücke. Last thursday I attended the second “Barhocker”-session there with 10 artists reading poems and playing some accoustic music. Among them my friend Yaneq, writer, rapper and overall entertainer. I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, and the really interesting people made this an inspiring evening..

Template Problems

Too bad, it took me long to find out that my old design does not work with IE. I switch to the Kubrick-Standard as long as I need to fix it. By the way, political blogging in German you will find here: roteblogs.de/thomaspraus

Update: Now I have a new templates (Pool by Borjy Fernandez), more versatility in Flickr and for putting in pictures. It´s the third change in my blog in it get’s nicer every day. Thank you for coming around!

My own warblog

I have started a new weblog around a subject I really like to talk about: Politics. Its wahlkampf.twoday.net.

Anyone who likes is invited to contribute, so please leave me a comment if you want to write. It is in German and of course it is about German politics in these campaign days. It is an experiment as well because I have very clear political opinions but by writing I would like to find out if they are consistent. I would like to say I am realistic but that is only true if you know the whole truth which you will never. So, the more you know, the more difficulut it is to make the right distinctions.

So, let’s blog and find out. Watch me on my way. I am a politcal blogger, too now.

Election time in Germany

In september we are electing a new government. I am going to be involved with the campaign, trying to prevent the black republic

Chancellor Schröder decided a week ago that after 9 major defeats of its social democratic party (SPD) in regional parliaments (which are important – we are a republic) it would be impossible to go on since his party and his politics “no more have the trust of the people”. I am working for the online consultancy Face2Net. One of their clients is the SPD, so I am going to be involved with the campaign. September 18th is the estimated election day. This is going to be tough, but exciting. And it starts now.
