You know it’s a DJ Premier song after two bars. Here is another great track he produced for Joey Bada$$ and it just sounds as oldschooly and warm as we love it. Bada$$ has a great, laid back, hypnotic way to rap like Nas in his good times. Now add some superb video artists to make an outstanding visual representation and a new classic is born. After Splash festival, the Hiphop Open in Stuttgart is the second hiphop festival in Germany. This year, they celebrated their tenth anniversary in beautiful weather. Here is a nice anthem video:

Splash Festival is Germany’s most popular hip hop festival. I remember the first Splash in 1999, I was 19 and did an internship at Intro magazine. I travelled to more than 10 festivals in one summer (which is a lot but nothing compared to what Christine is doing this year) and Splash was one of them. I even got to go on stage and introduce artists to the crowd. I can’t quite remember why they let me do that but it was definitely a good time.
This year, Splash turns 15 years old and I very much like the idea of the video trailer with the son who wants to go to Splash for the first time and the dad who looks like he’s been going there for the last 15 years. After some years of bad luck with heavy rain and big shot artists on the line up who cancelled in the very last minute, for the last two years, Splash festival succeeded to turn around and present international musicians together with the German stars in a superb location.
This year will see Whiz Khalifa, ASAP Rocky, Mac Miller, Skream, Beginner, Caspa, Cro and many others. Weather looks good so far, all the best at Splash!

Berlin bleibt deutlich, schön prollig, “Die Stadt überhaupt” von KD Supier, Megaloh, Said, Silla und Sera Finale. Sera hebt sich schön smart ab, ist eine “guter Orthopäde, der den Yuppies Beine macht” und der Rest ist ordentlich böse und schlecht gelaunt und manchmal auch witzig.

Eigentlich habe ich nur das Video posten wollen und bin dann erst richtig in die Comfort Fit Welt eingestiegen. Der Typ ist der Hammer! Erst einmal habe ich mich daran erinnert dass ich schon früher seine Tracks mochte, die auf Tokio Dawn Records rauskommen, m.E. einem der wenigen wirklich guten Netlabels. Damals, vor vier oder fünf Jahren ist mir das durch den De:Bug Podcast reingelaufen. Und jetzt dieses Video und ein tolles neues Album. Und eigentlich habe ich den Artikel für das Urban Blog von Beck’s geschrieben, aber er passt eigentlich noch besser auf Stylewalker :). Also: Enjoy!

Es gibt ihn noch, den guten Hip Hop a la Pharcyde oder A Tribe Called Quest. K-OS kommt aus Kanada und hat dort schon ordentlichen Erfolg. Der Stil ist orchestral, variabel, fluffig. Vielleicht so wie man sich den Weg der Black Eyed Peas gewünscht hätte.
Bald kommt sein Album “Yes!”, hier ist das Video “4 3 2 1”.
“I wish I knew Natalie Portman” hat man auch schon das eine oder andere Mal im Radio gehört.
I am getting myself together to recover from Melt and collect some thoughts about that amazing festival again, in the meantime, here are two nice hiphop widgets: Unionstreet and Asher Roth.
(I work for P3000 and helped to build Union Street, we also did the Asher Roth widget). Unionstreet is a news platform with lots of community features about urban music and lifestyle, with hardworking editors and daily news about the big bling and the little bang. Asher Roth sounds like a mix of Eminem and Money Mark, easy, funny, funky, singalong music.

Auf myspace.com/urbanstreetteam gibt es eine nette Competition: Freund werden, Foto in das eigene MySpace-Profil hochladen, mit dem Urban Streetteam Profil verlinken und dann Kommentare auf dem Foto sammeln. Dazu kriegt jeder noch ein stylishes Widget zum eigenes-Bild-promoten.
Das Foto mit den meisten Kommentaren gewinnt – ein Trip im Bus inkl 5 weitere Freunde zum Konzert nach Oberhausen.

Es steht ein Haus in Neuruppin und es sieht ziemlich düster aus. Dreckiges Linoleum, Hängelampe und den elektrischen Bratenschneider auf dem Tisch. Drin sitzen K.I.Z und rappen über Mordfantasien. Man kann das Haus mit Mouseclicks durchlaufen und Schrecklichkeiten entdecken.
