Find the cosy and affordable hotel in Paris
October 23, 2009 on 5:43 pm by Thomas | In Stylewalker | 1 Comment
Paris is one of the most expensive cities. This counts also and especially for part time lodging and tourism.
Say you want to stay there for some days and know for sure that there has to be that one little hotel or bed and breakfast, a little worn and old maybe but cosy and charmin. Where to find that? Searching the web is impossible, you’ll find tons of lists and hotel room merchants from hrs to tripadvisor so I asked around via Twitter and Facebook and here is what I got:

Reflektionen über einen Motorroller
September 2, 2009 on 10:12 am by Thomas | In Stylewalker | 10 Comments
This weekend Berlin will finally see some big festival inside the city. It has, in my opinion, a killer line-up, and takes place at one of Berlin’s most historically charged places: Tempelhof airport It was built by the Nazis, hosts one of the world’s biggest buildings, was used by the US army to fly goods in while West-Berlin city was blocked by the soviets, it’s a vast place with lots of space and now home of the Bread & Butter. And the Berlin festival. (If the site is offline, try the Google cache version)
Friday and saturday there will be shows by Deichkind, Peter Doherty, Jarvis Cocker, Dendemann, The Rifles, Moderat, Saint Etienne, Zoot Woman, Digitalism (DJ Set), Peaches (DJ Set), The Thermals, Junior Boys, Florence and the Machine, WhoMadeWho, Bodi Bill, Bonaparte, Berlin Battery and many more.
As a teaser, I recommend Shir Khan’s Bombaklaat live mix:
Fresh Stylewalker DJ mixes
July 13, 2009 on 7:32 pm by Thomas | In DJ mixes, Dubstep, Music, Stylewalker, download mp3 | 1 CommentIn may, I played at the Webinale party and was quite excited because it took place at Week End club on top of Berlin with a brilliant soundsystem and DJ booth. The party was great and everybody danced plus I was lucky to have the mix recorded so here I can present two 30 minutes mixes, one opening house mix and one which is more dubsteppy and in the end loaded with hiphop classics. Enjoy!

Trabayo is the name of an enterprise I am starting right now together with four friends and actually many more people you will all get to know soon. I am saying enterprise because it is going to be journey to see something become live we have been thinking about for a long time and of which we think might help a lot of people.

The idea is to give students a place to present a certain talent and a specific service. Students need ways to make a little money aside, in a flexible way and they have myriad talents from baysitting to fixing motobikes, from groceries for grandma to being a style and shopping assistant. We want to add useful tools to administer service deals and finally offer a pro version. On blog.trabayo.com you can follow our progress, even more detailed is twitter.com/trabayo.
If you register now on trabayo.com you will be using this service free, forever! Take the ride with us, I would be delighted.
Moneyprinting, party of friends, Politcamp
April 30, 2009 on 5:59 pm by Thomas | In Art, Berlin Scene, Politics, Stylewalker, going out | Say something!
It’s going to be a pretty active weekend, I am not talking about riots. But there is lots of cool stuff going on in Berlin this weekend: Tonight, thursday, there is the money printing contest which will take place at Mariannenplatz 21 in Kreuzberg 36. (“Who hasn’t thought about it? The perfect solution in this time of global meltdown and financial disaster! We need to make our own money!”) Great, arty and subversive idea by Czentrifuga.
Tomorrow night, I will be playing at CRACKERS, Heidestrasse 5, a friend is organizing a party for friends, come if you’re a friend! (see the flyer to the left).
Then, saturday and sunday, I will be attending Politcamp09, a barcamp about politics. I’ll try to post an English summary here.
And he did it again. This time very various and smoothly mixed, Shir Kahn’s Bodytonic music podcast

Some impressions from Thailand
March 18, 2009 on 7:27 pm by Thomas | In Publicity / Marketing, Stylewalker | 1 CommentFram Bangkok to Ranong, to Ko Chang, to Kao Lak, to Krabi, to Surat Thani, to Ko Samui, to Bangkok.
I felt like a boy in Disney Land, with too little time to try it all out; the snorkeling, the Kyte surfing, the trekking, all the great food, the North, more islands, meet more people, suck it all ever more.. Only three weeks to be inspired, to meet people, to become fascinated by the Thai energy of doing, family, public life, smiling, enjoying.

My work for PANORAMA3000 and Jusos
January 16, 2009 on 12:42 pm by Thomas | In Campaigns, P3000, Politics, Stylewalker | Say something!Inspired by Peter’s blogpost about Life updates, I would like to state some things, too.
Over the last year (2008), I was still working as a freelance online consultant but mainly doing concepts and creating ideas for the Berlin based digital communications agency PANORAMA3000 and its clients. I started to work for P3000 in december 2007 after having finished my studies in communcation and business at FU Berlin.
Working for P3000 has been great so far, it’s a very ambitious and young team, consisting of people who like exactly what I like: music, the interwebs and being creative. I had lots of possibilities to shape ideas and concepts for clients like Universal Music, Sony Music, arvato Bertelsmann and even the Golfclub Wannsee Berlin. Some of my posts here might have been work related but since most of it treats with funky web ideas and music, I did not take the chance every time to say I was also working (for money!) with that particular project. Sorry for that.
Next year we’ll be working for young socialists within the Social Democratic Party (SPD), short: Jusos. There are elections to the European parliament and the Bundestag (German parliament who then elect the government) coming up and we will be helping Jusos to tune their websites and most of all their online supporters management, using social media platforms and tools. You probably know that I did work for SPD with ABFace2net in the past. And that stylewalker.net always featured posts dealing with politics.
Of course I will present some strategies, tools and ideas here and hope you will find it interesting to take a look at our work and sometimes behind the curtains. Personally, I like the social democratic people we are working with and often, of course not always, agree with their political ideas about a social society, education, environment and regulating financial markets on a global level.
Beam Stylewalker to Next09
January 12, 2009 on 7:02 pm by Thomas | In Campaigns, Stylewalker | 4 CommentsI want to speak at Next09 and I need your help to do so!
Next09 is a conference for digital communication, economy, the web, technology and the actors within this world. “Share economy” will be the theme for this year, the conference will see speakers from all over the world, the private and the public sector, workshops and start-up presentations. All supposedly dealing with how digital technology, especially the internet, is changing the way people communicate and do business with enabling them to share. Next09 is organized by the Hamburg based company SinnerSchrader.
So, here is the plan: Propose me as a speaker! I did so myself already but I need a little more support, so I will post here what I wrote to Next09 and if you like it,
I very much ask you to go to this speaker proposal form and suggest me!

Facebook for teaching and learning
November 10, 2008 on 7:02 pm by Thomas | In Campaigns, Stylewalker | 2 CommentsI wrote the following article together with Max Senges and Peter Bihr for the UOC Fórum Innovació.
Social Communities have grown rapidly over the last years, offering people the chance to publish personal information and connect with each other. The biggest social community today is Facebook with more than 120 million members. Due to the myriad possibilities to use Facebook, there many ways to support teaching and learning.
Facebook started in 2004 at Harvard University and was aimed at connecting students. Now, almost every American student and many Europeans have profiles on Facebook. They use it to share information, such as links, photos and videos, to arrange real life events and to communicate in groups.
From: http://www.apple.com/au/education/digitalkids/disconnect/landscape.htmlFace
The use of Facebook also shows the current cultural differences between teachers who slowly have to adapt to new technologies and students who grew up with digital communication. The differences in media use and learning behaviour between so called “digital native learners” and “digital immigrant teachers” are shown below. Understanding how to use Facebook opens up a way to stepping closer to actual student behaviour and to create a more appropriate way of teaching.

Gräser & Stylewalker in Magdeburg

Tonight, me and my mate Patrick Gräser will play in Magdeburg to a big student party crowd. Come around if you’re there, we’ll see what the young folks think about my bass monsters.
Find more Dj mixes by Patrick Gräser.
On friday, I’ll play at a private party at Pan Am Lounge – this will be fun, too! Pan Am Lounge is the place where pilots and other employees of Pan America Airlines used to hang out in the sixties and seventies. And it looks exactly like that.
Hobnox Updates (how to embed your own files)
October 23, 2008 on 3:27 pm by Thomas | In Hobnox, Music, Stylewalker | 2 Comments
Hobnox has some new, very much awaited features. First, you can now live record your music creation from the audiotool. Thus, Hobnox is one of the first web applications to use Flash10 which now supports wider audio emulation, not at least thanks to the “Adobe, Make some noise!“-campaign, partly driven by Hobnox developers.
Apart from that, the Audiotool has more features compared to the original version, e.g. a command bar which makes it easier to work with many machines plus when inactive for a while, the light fades out and the machines are solitarily left in the dark..
Listen to my little bass monster here:
Saving songs requires several steps, you will need to login, it will then be encoded and you can find it in ‘My files’, on visibility you can adjust copyright settings (also creative commons), here you need to allow embedding, then send the file to your stage, go to your stage, choose the file and on mouseover you’ll see the embed icon (< ..>) to get the embed code.
Moreover, you can save the live shows you can stream with Hobnox now (still, in a quality I haven’t seen on other platforms) to play them later in your profile, also the Evolution2 is still running.
In theatres from 30th october:
Pimpin’ aint easy – from Hong Kong to Berlin
September 11, 2008 on 5:35 pm by Thomas | In Berlin Scene, DJ mixes, Stylewalker | 4 Comments
Now this is a great story. Here’s a kid, from a German small town, Göttingen. He becomes a dj and is obessed with training with the decks. He gets really good, becomes a champion. Plays all over Germany, Europe, US. Goes on a tour to Asia – and stays there, playing regularly at parties in Hong Kong.
His name is Kid Fresh and I already wrote about him. Looking at the pictures on the partyblog accompanying the “Pimpin’ ain’t easy” parties in Hong Kong, he deals with a very fancy party crowd there.
Tonight he’ll be playing at Scala, Friedrichstr. Pimpin’ ain’t easy? In Kid Fresh’s case, this might be untrue.
