Coke DJ Culture Berlin Engelbrot from NachtagentenJust coming back from his tour with Theo Parrish, Omar S., Robert Owens and Quarion, Patrick has something else to celebrate: Together with Notic Nastic he releases “I’m very close” on Liebe*Detail, one of the most loved club labels these days.
So run to the record stores and get it while it’s hot! You can watch some pictures from the gig at Engelbrot in Berlin on Nachtagenten.

Matthias (Jimdo) at Robert Scoble’s show
August 7, 2007 on 1:27 pm by Thomas | In Friends, Webfindings | 1 CommentWow. These guys don’t stop. First, Jimdo’s enthusiastic start in Germany, then they go to China with a Chinese version, plus they get one of the best promotion in the geek scene: An interview with Robert Scoble. And Matthias is not only smart but also a very modest and charming representer for the German internet scene. Check it out: Continue >>

Bling! Shirts shoes and blogs
June 12, 2007 on 5:51 pm by Thomas | In Berlin Scene, Fashion, Friends | 3 Comments
Oy yeah, I like my new Bling-shirt. On the one hand, I think it’s so cool everybody should have one, on the other hand I love it so much I’d get jealous if any other person would be slipping into it. Tricky. But, what the heck, I love my readers and you should be really stylish and have a bling shirt, too. So, here is how to get: www.keingeschenk.de.
Great guys (Pit, for example) behind this passionate little webshop, selling stuff from Berlin they like to people they like. We all live in a pink coloured world, you know..
And for you leisure fashion lovers, here are some cool ressources: Selekkt and Addicteed are two very nice shirt blogs I found via Matthias. Und hier ist ein richtig geiler Sneakerblog, der auch so heißt: Sneakerblog.de.
(nach der Politik die letzten Tage komme ich mir irgendwie so oberflächlich vor. Aber tut auch mal ganz gut.)
Yeah, it’s out and has some pretty names on it:
Dizzee Rascal, ClickClickDecker Deichkind vs. Snap! feat. Special Guests, Booka Shade, Dendemann, The Faint, Frankie Says: Melt! (formally known as Frankie Goes To Hollywood), Goose, Lady Sovereign, Motorpsycho, The Notwist, Polarkreis 18, The Thermals, Tiga, Tocotronic, Trentemøller w/Band

It’s about time for a good mix. A deep one, a driving one, some music that makes you want to move into the strobes. Put your hands up, the club is dark, who can see you.. ?
Patrick Gräser shows how he has developed in his months spinning at Weekend on “Basic” nights. It’s a mix with the courage to push the people even further early in the morning. This thing is talking to you. And you better not talk to anybody else. Patrick Gräser - Basic, have a nice holiday.

September 14, 2006 on 12:09 am by Thomas | In Berlin Scene, DJ mixes, Friends, Music | 1 Comment
DJs Anonymous linked me as a friend! And they released a new mix by Ben Mono, see below. Great stuff, deep and funky, slow and grroovy, spacy bit hop soul infusion!
Moreover, Marco Delvai is going to play in Berlin, Yaneq invited him to Berliner Wald: spoken word unlimited with Wolf Hogekamp, Bas Böttcher, FlowinIMMO and Jim Dunloop at the funky Rhodes on thursday, 21.9.!
And from tomorrow I’ll be going to the Wizards of OS to see Lawrence Lessig and meet Yochai Benkler for a short interview. Not to talk about the party on saturday. So, some pretty interesting days coming up, stay tuned for some stories!

He will be here september 21st (thursday) to sep 26th (tuesday), drop me a mail and we’ll talk about the details! Continue >>

August 28, 2006 on 11:26 am by Thomas | In Friends, Nightlife Snapshots, Webfindings | 1 CommentImagine Terry Richardson taking party pictures. Than you have something like the pictures of lastnightsparty.com.
Definetely hedonistic, definetely dirty (not really sfw), definitely full of life. Reminds of the Cobra Snake and apparently Bronques, the head behind the site has been dancing at Cobra Snake parties.
Here’s another story on stylewalker.net about lastnightsparty or go the homepage to find more party and music coverage.
Patrick Gräser at Weekend-Basic and Suzi Wong birthday
August 1, 2006 on 1:15 pm by Thomas | In Berlin Scene, Friends, Music | Say something!
Enlarge Weekend-Site ScreenshotI knew, that guy would slowly make his way. Patrick Gräser is now an official part of the Week-end crew and will give his second appearance together with Clé and Patrick Chadronnet in Berlin’s “highest club” this saturday, 5th of august.
The same day Suzi Wong is celebrating her birthday at Kiki Blofeld with friends (e.g. Andrea Parker)
I guess, this will end in the morning when Patrick is playing into the sunrise..
Melt!06 - Looking back to a great festival
July 20, 2006 on 2:45 pm by Thomas | In Friends, Melt!, Music, Stylewalker | 6 Comments
Deichkind Photo by Substrat@FlickrSo, first of all: Melt!-festival this year was amazing! It was quite an experience and I think there’s few people who weren’t happy with it. For the visitors, the organizers, the artists, it was just some some incredible days in the sun, in an extraordinary environment with the best music one can imagine. Again, it was like having a party for some 15 000 people.
Yes, I am totally excited about Melt!, not only because I had a great time and met so many interesting people; it’s just this feeling to be part of something special and to share moments to remember. And thanks to YouTube and Flickr I can document all those exciting moments with (moving) images. One year ago, that was not possible. Continue >>
Live from Melt!
July 14, 2006 on 1:40 pm by Thomas | In Berlin Scene, Friends, Music, Stylewalker | 2 Comments
Two hours to go, the Pet Shop Boys soundcheck booming in the back, beautiful weather, a little windy, very sunny, relaxed atmosphere, everything seems to be set and I am waiting for “my” artists.
Like last year, I am working as an artist host and am responsible for the well being of the musicians on the festival. Bring towels, organize soccer balls, explain the area, etc. This year I will receive Hot Chip, Aphex Twin, Deichkind, Roni Size, Mediengruppe Telekommander and Peter Licht. Yeah!
I am looking forward to the next two days, if you are close, come around, it is going to be great! There is a lake, you can even go swimming and if you are interested in media contacts, well, I think the whole German music industry will be here.. See you!
Tonight: Party Arty!
April 13, 2006 on 10:25 am by Thomas | In Berlin Scene, Friends, Music | 2 Comments
Lovelite is the place, Party Arty is the event. For three years now, wortartist Yaneq is organizing this mind-opening celebration, hosting the show himself. As always, he will have some extraordinary guests: spokenword and beatbox artists, Djs and bands.. Of which, funally enough, most happen to be my friends.
Suzi Wong will be kicking in with Jeff Pils a brutall elekkktroset, Al Haca will demonstrate their laptop breakbeat punch and finally, Tolcha with DJ Shir Khan will present their new album “Gestalt”. For an idea of their dub-electro-reggae-grimy music, listen to their hit: “Streetvibes”:
Party Arty @ Lovelite Thu 13april Simplonstr. 38/40 Berlin-Friedrichshain
DJ Patrique in the mix!
April 7, 2006 on 5:44 pm by Thomas | In Berlin Scene, DJ mixes, Friends, Music | 2 Comments
I talked about that before, and finally I have it: A brand new shiny mix by DJ Patrique. It’s minimal, it’s funky, it’s soulful, it grooves.
You start listening and might think, “well, this is nice summer house music..” but wait until it starts hypnotically screwing its sawtooth synths into your ear. Hands up on the dancefloor guaranteed.
With selected records by, amongst others: Audiomontage (Freerange), Steve Bug (Pokerflat), Samim&Michal (Freizeitglauben), Phage (Highgrade 31): Contemporary Berlin house music, just the style I love.
DJ Patrique plays in different clubs in and around Berlin. He is playing records for ten years. He is part of the Stylewalker-artists.
Internet plus free coffee - Electric Barcelona
February 2, 2006 on 6:39 pm by Thomas | In Barcelona Life, Friends | Say something!
A Stylewalker-recommendation: The best internet café (and of the cheapest) in central Barcelona is “Electric“. Situated right next to the cathedral, on Missa Ferrer it has a very modern and industrial style.
Since they opened only two weeks ago, it is still quite minimally decorated and right now the two owners (cool guys from Berlin!) are talking to artists to decorate the place.
Members pay 1,20€ an hour and get coffee or tee for free!

Catalounge in Cold Russian Barcelona
January 27, 2006 on 10:52 pm by Thomas | In Barcelona Life, Friends, Music | 1 Comment
The nordic cold is coming down to Barcelona and we are surprised with nasty cold and windy rain. Yesterday, I had ice in my hair!
Well, concerning that back in Berlin they have their river frozen, it is still pretty cozy.
Anyway, this does not really lift my mood for going to a conncert. Even less, when it is like a journey with the metro, but I really want to see them. Their name is Catalounge and the reason I want to go basically is that I met one of the musicians at Bread and butter and we had very good time working the cables there..
Their concept is nice (and pretty fashionable as well, I must admit): “Electro mestizaje” - It’s a very broad and versatile mix of all sorts of lounge, drum’n'bass, down and breakbeat spheres with snippets of guitars and minimal vocals. I especially liked their track
Encantador de serpientes.
Tonight they play in Hospitalet which is not exactly Barcelona, but I’ll still go. They better be good!! I wanted to go tomorrow but the police shut down the place where they were supposed to play. Man, Barcelona really is getting conservative..
Movie: Cocina Sevillana
January 6, 2006 on 6:48 pm by Thomas | In Barcelona Life, Friends, Movies | Say something! That is my first movie! Yay! I shot it a few weeks ago, edited it yesterday and I am very pleased with the result. It’s a cooking session with my flatmate Juan, we cooked (well: he did, I filmed) fresh pasta with red pepper and roquefort cheese. Very simple, very good.
That kid is one great talent. Recently arrived in Barcelona and already working for the national museum of art. Quite a success, I’d say..
Frédéric Eyl and Sigrídur Kristín Sæmundsdóttir created the christmas installation for the prestigious MNAC (Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya), which he has documented here in a very nice way. Continue >>
When people ask me: “so, what are you doing in Barcelona, just having a good time?”, I basically cannot deny it. Because, yes, I am still working for Face2net and SPD and yes, I try to get jobs like some webprojects and being part of the Bread & Butter Barcelona, and yes, I started to work on my master thesis but.. it’s not a lot to show around, actually.
But here is something: I met a designer who studied in Utrecht and Cologne, he is really good, has a lot of skills, spontaneously we made ourselves business cards to step up into the professional circle of Barcelona’s freelancers and spontaneously I made him a webpage: www.christiandegen.de is a simple, fast and easy onlineportfolio, I hope it will be of use for him.

Axel Dupeux is a Paris based photographer who publishes very expressive and strong portraits on his website. He is also a very professional fashion photographer and I think also a teacher. I met him once and immediately liked him and especially the fact that he seems to find a real good balance between being an artist and a professional freelancer.

Interactive walls that seem alive and are able to reflect the reality. A form of minimalism, very formalistic and reducing. And looks überstylish.. If I had a bar, this would be the highlight.
“Aperture” is a facade installation consisting of an iris diaphragm matrix (which you can find in cameras as well)made by students of the Universität der Künste (UdK), Berlin. digital media class. These artificial eyelike irises are able to react to their environment and create a moving surface by closing and opening.(

Ich will hier bleiben!
October 21, 2005 on 12:26 pm by Thomas | In Barcelona Life, Friends, Zeitgeist | Say something!

Wish me luck!
