Sirius Mo & MC Ramon: Itchy / Cornerboy

Sirius Mo MC Ramon Itchy Cornerboy

This is one of the best music videos so far this year and one of the coolest ever, so it needs to be on Stylewalker.net. Being a huge Sirius Mo fan myself, I was happy to know he is releasing a new album on Monkeytown. This is his first signal and it’s a perfect fit.

We see Roman Geike aka MC Ramon aka Romano as a starring character, playing: himself. Roman is an entertainer by heart, be it as a rapping “cornerboy” or be it as German chansonnier (“Schlagerstar”) as you see in this video – he always takes it very seriously. This enthusiasm is infecting. In the video Ramon is walking the streets of Berlin, dancing in a washing saloon and visiting people in their gardens: everybody falls for his charme.

The video is also about Moritz’ aka Sirius Mo’s home, Berlin-Friedrichshagen (I think!), close to the lake Müggelsee. It’s a great contrast, the home turf and the rapper who used to be a Schlagerstar and the fusion electronic music which can easily appeal to anybody who is into grooves and melodies.

Enjoy “Itchy / Cornerboy”:

Schwarz Don’t Crack

schwarzdontcrack

I saw them yesterday at a shop opening which is not really the greatest environment for a band to perform. Yet, they did very well, filled the room with atmosphere and played a really good performance. “Schwarz Don’t Crack” is the name and the band consists of Sebastian Kreis and Ahmad Larnes. Ahmad’s singing is definitely a trade mark, with his deep expression and variety of details and mixes well with the electronic RnB sound floor which Sebastian creates underneath. Very slow disco beats and lots of pop samples create a style which sounds familiar yet unique. They are about to release an album on B pitch records and Melt booking already have them in their roster. So the future is bright for this likeable odd couple, watch them grow.

Hear for yourself, here’s their first track:

Find more on their Soundcloud.

I especially like the “Miami” video. It reminds me of the clips I tried to produce with my friends when I was fourteen.

Here is a good interview which tells their story.

Spreepark Festival

I am very looking forward to next weekend’s highlight here in Berlin: The XX’s festival “Night and day”. Taking place in the legendary Spreepark, an abandoned theme park with many historical fun rides which are slowly breaking apart. What a great scenery for a festival!

Sizarr shot their entire video to “Run Dry” here:

The festival has, not surprisingly a great line up: The XX, Jessie Ware, Chromatics, Mount Kimbie, Kindness, Mikky Blanco, Dixon and many more DJs.

The official tickets are sold out but you can still get some on ebay.

Google Berlin office opening

Yesterday, Google opened their brand new Berlin office and invited a lot of people to take a look at their rooms, have some drinks and mingle. Of course, it wouldn’t be Google without some special features and activities. Cookies provided the food and drinks and all of that was not only vegetarian but also very colorful. Green, yellow, blue and red cocktails illustrated the Google colors.

The evening started with a hangout between Philip Schindler, Google VP Northern and Central Europe and politicians with a web affinity like Jimmy Schultz and Halina Wawziniak broadcasted to big screens throughout the office. The Tiefschwarz DJs took over and it turned into a very cosy office party with many, many people. In other words: it was packed.

Blackboards for the guest’s creativity

Every room is named after a Berlin club. There was a Kater Holzig, Cookies and Weekend room, I did not spot a Berghain though.

Why travel when you got Google Earth on screens as big as your living room?

Good night.

My best tracks from the Devorama party

The Devorama party was a big, packed, sweaty and joyful event. I was superhyped and excited that everything went so well and sat at the terrace with the last crew until the sun rose. The party guests showed their devotion with buying more drinks after the 30 free beer crates were gone. And of course, I took my chance to play some tunes after Symbiz had finished the energy loaded show. Here are my favorites of this quite dark dubstep set which actually made some people dance in the end.

Starting very dark and intense with Kryptic Minds – Badman VIP

Spill in some echo reggae sweetness, RSD – Kingfisher

It gets a bit funkier and people start to get it with Killawatt’s Mantra

And my highlight Distal – Booyant

I ended with more straight tunes, like Martyn and Mike Slotts All Nights

to hand over to Paula who continued with discoish tunes from the Loftus Hall

The pic up there is by Matze Hielscher, finde more party pics here!

Symbiz Sound

Symbiz Sound are probably the most entertaining bass music crew in Berlin, these two guys blow your mind when they play live. They go mental on their self built controller, sing, rap, play guitar, use the siren extensively and know exactly how to play with the audience. The first time I saw them, they managed to fill an empty tent with a raging crowd over the course of 30 minutes.

Symbiz’ ragga and tropical infused dubstep is densely filled with effect sounds, interesting changes, great vocals and funny ideas. Computer games get mashed in, a polka band, ironic shouts. It’s great fun, not too serious, yet with an attitude. These guys know what they’re doing and they never seem to run out of ideas.

Here is their most recent video, “Who cares?” as a 3D version. You’ll need cyan/red glasses to see it properly. Here’s the 2D version.

Here is the making-of which shows the immense effort needed to produce this. They got support by the Technical University of Braunschweig.

To prove their live qualities watch this:

At Melt, I was so impressed that I took the chance and asked them if they wanted to play at our P3000 Devorama summer party. And they said yes! So now I am so looking forward to tomorrow when they blow the roof off the place where we usually work.
