Survey for a new FU Berlin students portal

I just filled out a survey about the students’ expectations for a new portal and social network for all students of the Freie Universität Berlin. I have to admit, I was quite surprised about the quality of the questions, the whole approach seems very promising to me. Let alone the fact to actually ask the users and recruit them for beta testing through a survey before starting to develop a social network platform is a plus. It seems ironic because this should be the case for all user driven online platforms but sadly enough is seldom the case.

If you are a FU student, take part in the survey until january 15th! Continue reading

Adventures close to home in Berlin

While Patrick Gräser is playing at Weekend again tonight and later in Kiki Blofeld, my man Shir Khan hosts some London party makers at 103: Adventures close to home.

These two guys just play what they like and already had guests like Maximo Park, Chromeo, Uffie, Adam Green, CSS, Spank Rock or Jamie Lidell, so it’s a pretty eclectic mix. They even host a free party (free! in London!) as they say: “Regular nights occur at the Camden Barfly on the FIRST Friday of every month, and a free-to-get-in party with ACTH DJs and the best brand new bands – at the Old Blue Last (Great Eastern Street, EC1) on the LAST Friday of every month. Yes, FREE to get in. And here’s their new massive, funky, noisy and november mix:

Happy year and Talib Kweli and Madlib free album

AlbumcoverHi and happy year everyone! There’s a brilliant new album by Talib Kweli and Madlib to download from the Stones Throw records site. It seems that the überproducer Madlib saved his best beats for the lyricist, the black Dante: Talib Kweli.

It’s pure soul, dense like a fine sauce reduced to the essentials. And Kweli is still the brilliant storyteller and commentator, with his mindsharp words and his flow that’s like a dance. The records is called “Liberation” and the music is free like the ideas, reflection of the reality, hopefully happening in everyone’s mind. Thank you for this new years present!
